Two members of the Clipso St Albans salon team recently attended the L’Oréal Professionnel INOA colour launch which was held at their academy in London. The launch was to introduce salon owners and hairdressers to their new selection of blonde colours within the INOA colour range which is ammonia free.

Darren Fowler, International Creative Director for the Clipso Salon Group together with members of the session team created strong couture, twisted and slightly dishevelled ponytails for the Bernard Chandran AW13 Show held inside the Freemason’s Halls on Saturday 16th February. Then on Tuesday 19th February they created a series of looks ranging from sleek and groomed styles to 40’s exaggerated glamour for the Ziad Ghanem AW13 Show also held inside the Freemason’s Halls.

The three day educational seminar began with a spectacular show, created by a host of international Redken artists. There were 15,000 hairdressers in the audience representing 42 countries. The three days covered education, with seminars including cut, colour, style, business and trends.

“Overall the trip was very inspirational and motivational for us all” explained the Clipso team members who attended the event.

Earlier this month Harriette Calvert from Clipso Watford worked at the Fashion in Motion event which was held at the V&A museum with L’Oréal Professionnel. On the day she worked on four shows for designer, Fyodor Golan. Jonny Engstrom at Guy Kremer directed Harriette and the rest of the session team to create the hair looks.

The hair was styled in a smooth high ponytail which was looped in and gathered at the nap to form a second ponytail.  This worked well with the architectural shapes of the hats and clothes, and contrasted with richly embellished fabrics.

“To begin with, I applied Shu Uemura’s Tasai Cream and L’Oréal Professionnel’s Tecni Art Hot Style Constructor before blow-drying her hair. Next I then prepped the hair by tonging and crimping at the root for maximum volume and texture. Taking the hair in sections, I then twisted and pinned it into place, finishing with a light hold hairspray.  I love this twisted back up-do on Ruth, she looks absolutely stunning!” explains Darren Fowler, International Creative Director for the Clipso salon group.

Each year, the Clipso Young Superstars awards put assistants and trainees against one another, and once again the 2012 competition was a huge success.

The competition was compered by Harriette Calvert who is a Hair Designer at Clipso Watford. Last Wednesday, Clipso Watford’s Harriette Calvert worked on a photoshoot with L’Oreal and Your Hair magazine. On the day Harriette had to create an easy high street look in 3 steps so keep an eye out for it in one their upcoming issues! We’ll make sure we share it with you on here too!

Georgie Calvert from our Watford salon was part of the hair team that created the looks for all the models in the Lingerie London show. The Seven Bar Foundation* brought together couture lingerie designer, Agent Provocateur and latex designer Atsuko Kudo, for an exclusive fashion show and gala at the Old Billingsgate as part of Lingerie London. On the night the hair team created five different hair looks on an epic cast of 100 models, dancers and aerialists. Models in the show included Abbey Crouch (Clancy), Sarah Harding, Peaches Geldof and Zara Martin!

On Sunday, Simon Cox, Managing Director of Clipso St Albans took part in the Hertfordshire 10K for the Grove House Hospice. Just under 3,000 people took part in the race which was completely sold out. Simon completed the race in 54 minutes & 36 seconds! Well done Simon!

We have have been announced as finalists within the Hertfordshire Business Awards 2012, we are shortlisted finalists for two categories, the Training and Development Award, sponsored by Oaklands College and Supporting Young People Award, sponsored by North Herts College.

The winners will announced at a black tie awards ceremony which will be held on Thursday 29th November at the prestigious Knebworth Barns, Knebworth Park and will involve a sparkling reception and a three course gala dinner. The host for this year’s awards ceremony is ITV’s Matt Barbet, and the chosen charity is The British Heart Foundation.

Last night we were crowned winners of the men’s category within the NHF 2012 Photographic Stylist of the Year competition! Thanks to Harriette Calvert and Kim Rance for collecting the award at the NHF’s annual conference which was held in Cardiff!

Yesterday hairdressers from various Clipso salons attended the Lea Valley, white water rafting Olympic site. The session lasted for two hours and included training, and five laps around the course – everyone agreed that it was an experience they wouldn’t forget!

On Monday 3rd September members of the Clipso team attended Creative Head’s Most Wanted and It List Awards, Clipso Watford’s Kim Rance was a finalist within The Fashionista and IT Girl categories.

Sadly Kim didn’t win but she did very well to be a finalist as all the categories were full of tough competition and top hairdressers within the industry. Kim was up against a lot of her friends within the industry and she said it was fantastic to see some of them picking up awards.

The night was very cool and quirky as Creative Head never fail to think outside of the box. There were cocktails all night, models from ghd snapping polaroid pictures of all the attendees and the venue was spectacular.

Kim will definitely be entering the awards again next year and she’s already looking forward  to it!

Last Saturday 1st September the award winning Clipso Hemel Hempstead salon celebrated their 30th Birthday. On the day of the salons Birthday, the team and clients were treated to birthday cake and champagne to celebrate the milestone. The Clipso Hemel Hempstead salon team also decorated the salon with 30th birthday balloons.

Sam Ashcroft of Clipso Watford has spent more time working with the GHD Style Squad team. This time, Sam has been in Dublin, he was working at Harvey Nichols doing hair trials and demonstrations at a consumer event called the ‘Ultimate girls day out’.  Sam was demonstrating how to use the new GHD ‘Air’ and how to style hair with the GHD stylers.  Sam has also been asked back to Dublin to style the hair for the Harvey Nichols Fashion Show at the end of September – well done Sam!

Summer and Hollie from Clipso Watford took part in an educational training day with Darren Fowler on Sunday 5th August at the Clipso London salon. With fantastic help from Darren, both girls learnt a range of new techniques. Both Summer and Hollie were taken out of their comfort zones but throughout the intense day, their confidence grew and there skills blossomed.  A variation of demonstrations and one to one training showed the girls ability to learn, develop and by the end of the day produce a superb haircut.

Lisa Hodges from Addiction spent the day with the professional hair care brand Fudge on Monday, she was helping shoot a video for their new website – we can’t wait to share it with you all!

Yesterday Clipso Watford’s Kim Rance was working alongside session stylist Claire Rothstein, styling the hair for River Island’s autumn/winter video which will feature on their website. We are very excited to announce that we are finalists for the AIPP AWARDS 2012-2013 within the ‘Best Men’ category with our Orchid Men collection. The AIPP Awards Ceremony will take place at this year’s ALTERNATIVE HAIR SHOW at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Sunday, October 14th!

On Sunday, members of the Clipso Salon group team took part in ‘It’s a Knockout’ which was organised by The Fellowship. It was held at The Country Club in Cheshunt and was a friendly, social day out for everyone in the industry. Clipso Watford and Hemel Hempstead both put forward teams.

Clipso St Albans would like to thank everyone who attended the beauty day on Saturday which was hosted by The Maltings Shopping Centre. Stylists from the Clipso salon were on hand giving expert advice on hair styling techniques and eveything to do with hair!

On Monday, Clipso Watford’s Jodie Clifford spent the day at the L’Oreal Academy in Hammersmith hosted by Redken. The day was all about creating vintage hair-up’s.  Jodie recreated looks from the 20′s, 40′s and 60′s but with a modern day touch throughout the day. Jodie said the day was a lot of fun and very creative, giving her ideas for when creating hair up’s in the salon.

As you know Tia Bishop from Clipso Watford is the person behind Challenge 30, Tia’s goal is to raise £10,000 for the amazing charity Hope for Children, she will do this by completing 30 crazy challenges whilst at the age of 30! Tia has recently completed challenge 4 and 5 out of the 30 challenges.  The 4th challenge was a 60 mile bike ride around Essex, which Tia completed with her sister. The 5th completed challenge was a 10k run in London sponsored by Nike. Despite the constant rain the race had an amazing atmosphere and around 25,000 people took part, Tia completed the run in 1 hour and 6 minutes. This week saw Sam Ashcroft of Clipso Watford spend his first two days with the GHD style squad at Malibutique in Cardiff. They met with Malibu, Fake Bake, Model’s Own and Heat magazine. Lauren Pope from TOWIE came in to be styled and the order of the day was to educate clients on the versatility of the GHD stylers. They demonstrated summer 2012 hairstyles and 1920/40′s waves which Jessie J and Fearne Cotton are wearing with more structure and definition.

We’re wishing the best of luck to Clipso Watford’s Kim Rance and Emilie Pearson Brown who have entered Eastern and newcomer categories within this year’s British Hairdressing Awards. Good luck to everyone else that has entered.

Tia Bishop from Clipso Watford is the person behind Challenge 30, Tia’s goal is to raise £10,000 for the amazing charity Hope for Children, she will do this by completing 30 crazy challenges at the age of 30! So far Tia has done a 26 mile walk in London which Alison Catchpole also did with her for support. Since then she has swam 750m in Eaton and has done a sky dive, which Kim Rance and Jack Williams also did to help support her charity raising efforts.

Yesterday, both Jodie and Tia from Clipso Watford took part in ‘Race for Life’ which helps raise money for Cancer Research.  Jodie’s client asked her to sign up to the race and so far as a group the Clipso Watford salon have raised over £1300. The race took place at Cassiobury park in Watford and they had to run 5k.
