CLIPSO YOUNG SUPERSTAR AWARDS 2013

 In Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Watford

Each year, we hold our own internal awards titled Young Superstar where we put assistants and trainees against one another in various categories, and once again the 2013 competition was a massive success. Each Clipso salon and the group director’s take education very seriously because it’s the younger generation of upcoming talented hairdressers who are recognised as the continued future success of the salon group.

The audience and judges were wowed by the outstanding talents of Clipso trainees from first to third year level each presenting a ‘complete look’ on a model, and giving a presentation to explain their concept, technique and over all look, including use of mood boards. The competition was compered by Scott Halsey, Salon Manager & Artistic Director at Clipso Watford.

The judging panel for the 2013 competition was colour guru Nathan Walker, International Technical Director & Head of Technical Education at Trevor Sorbie, Angela Holland, Technical Consultant at L’Oréal Professionnel and Samantha Grocutt, Managing Director of Essence PR.

Each winner was presented with £100 worth of gift vouchers, runners up was presented with £50 worth of gift vouchers, and everyone received a certificate along with a goody bag.

The winners included:

First Year winner – Josh Smith, Clipso Watford (Award presented by Samantha Grocutt)

First Year runner up – Jenny Hare, Clipso Hemel Hempstead

Second Year winner – Holly Greenhalgh, Clipso Watford (Award presented by Angela Holland)

Second Year runner up – Beth Hunt, Clipso Watford 

Third Year winner – Jack Williams, Clipso Watford (Award presented by Nathan Walker)

Best Mood Board winner was presented to Georgie Calvert from Clipso Watford by Nathan Walker. Georgie won herself a place on the Richard Ward Fashion Interpretation Course with L’Oreal Professionnel.

The Young Superstar Overall Award was presented to Josh Smith from Clipso Watford by Lindsay Calvert, Managing Director of the Clipso Salon group. Josh won himself a course of his choice at L’Oreal Professionnel.

Julia Webb, Senior Educator of the Clipso training academy commented “I am extremely happy and so proud of all our trainees and assistant’s today, everyone who took part in the awards displayed such a high level of work. At Clipso education is very important to us and we’re very proactive at encouraging all team members to develop their skills. When it comes to the youngsters we make sure all of them are put through gruelling training as they are the future of the salon group.”

Lindsay Calvert, Managing Director of the Clipso Salon group, commented, “Firstly I want to say congratulations to all of the winners and a massive well done to everyone who took part. Everyone’s work was wonderful and all the apprentices’ hard work definitely paid off because the standard of work was fantastic. Also, thank you to all of our amazing judges and to everyone attended – I can’t wait for next year’s awards!”
